WASHINGTON, DC (June 13, 2016) — The Generic Pharmaceutical Association (GPhA) today announced the hiring of Kathryn L. Anderson, Vice President, Federal Government Affairs.
“We are fortunate to have Kathryn representing our members and championing the industry’s priority issue of ensuring access to affordable generic medicines,” said Chip Davis, President and CEO, GPhA. “Kathryn is a well-respected advocate on Capitol Hill for the depth of her policy knowledge and strength of her relationships. She is an excellent addition to an already formidable GPhA Government Affairs team.”
Anderson brings decades of issue and cause advocacy expertise, most recently as Senior Managing Director for Dentons, LLP, a global law and public affairs firm where she represented health and insurance industry clients. Her previous experience includes in-house government relations for major health and life insurance companies, special assistant to general counsel for the Clinton/Gore campaign and director of state operations for the Democratic Governors Association. She is a graduate of Marymount University.
“I’m very excited to be a part of the generic industry’s efforts to lower pharmaceutical costs for patients, public programs and others,” said Anderson. “It has never been more important to work with legislators and health influencers to embrace initiatives that encourage access and grow savings for patients and our health system."
GPhA represents the manufacturers and distributors of finished generic pharmaceuticals, manufacturers and distributors of bulk pharmaceutical chemicals, and suppliers of other goods and services to the generic industry. Generic pharmaceuticals fill 88 percent of the prescriptions dispensed in the U.S. but consume just 28 percent of the total drug spending. Additional information is available at gphaonline.org.
